Hoops Down Under End of Season Members Update

Hi everyone!

A quick Hoops Down Under end of season update for all our members and followers!

YET ANOTHER QPR ROLLERCOASTER RIDE

Well, not exactly a season to remember, was it? The Rs started off their 2024-25 campaign in the worst possible way, collecting only a solitary win from their opening 16 matches to be sitting dead last in 24th spot, with many Rs fans fearing our luck had expired & the $40 million FFP fine had finally caught up to us.

However, instead, we saw a huge mid-season revival, with the club winning 10 of their next 13 matches and the Rs sitting pretty in 9th position, only 3 points off the playoffs. R's fans were all of a sudden feeling that perhaps a top 10 finish, and possibly, playoffs in May, might well be on the cards!

But that good ol' QPR rollercoaster ride was far from over...we had only just reached the peak! QPR's hopes and dreams of a proud top 10 finish (at least) fell flat on their face. Five wins from their remaining 18 games at the back end of the season very nearly landed the Rs back into a relegation battle. Two very away late wins at Oxford & Preston ensured QPR got past the magical 50 point haul and their survival in the Sky Bet Championship was cemented with 3 weeks of the season to go.

No squeaky bum action on the final day at least this time...phew! 😮‍💨 However, the club certainly have their work cut out over the Summer after manager Marti Cifuentes, who had been in charge since October 2023, was placed on gardening leave (after the Spaniard had been linked with West Brom at the time) for the final game of the season v Sunderland. Very interesting times ahead for the club....😬
